I went to the place and I was afraid of the place by Sonja Donner

“A memory: Mud… trash… footstep… invisible things… a thing from childhood that you also may remember? A wooden construction that is built to shield a machine… a little hut made to shield a place from rain, a tarp to shield an open hole in the ground, a rock laid down on another. I walk past these things, there is a crack from which I see to the inside: an empty room, sometimes an abandoned room, sometimes a place of an important, yet unknown event. I went to the place and I was afraid of the place. I like to think of it so that I’m paying my respects to the place: I make a circle around it, I stop, nod and say mm-hmm.”
